Read and notice.
A sequence follows an order. A rule can explain how it changes: 2, 4, 6, 8 adds two each time. More than one rule can sometimes fit a short sequence, so explaining your rule matters.
Try it.
- Use the rule “start at 3 and add 3” to write six numbers.
- Invent a different rule and write its first five terms.
- Ask a partner to predict the next term, then explain your rule.
Your response
Write your sequence, explain its rule, and give the next two terms.
