Observe Patterns

Read and notice.

A repeating pattern has a unit that appears again and again. In circle, square, circle, square, the repeating unit is circle, square. Real objects can have patterns, too, but nature does not always repeat perfectly.

Try it.

  1. Draw a row with the unit circle, triangle, triangle repeated three times.
  2. Circle one complete repeating unit. Predict the next three shapes.
  3. Find or draw another pattern. Explain what repeats.

Your response

Describe your repeating unit and the next three items. How did the unit help you predict them?
