Collect Evidence

Read and notice.

Evidence is a recorded observation relevant to a question. A consistent method makes comparisons easier. A small number of observations can suggest an idea, but cannot establish what is true of every plant.

Try it.

  1. Ask an adult to help choose three safe leaves to observe, or use three leaf pictures.
  2. Use the same feature for each comparison, such as shape, visible veins, or number of points.
  3. Record each result. Write “uncertain” if a detail is unclear instead of guessing.

Your response

What feature did you compare? Record your three observations and explain one limit of your comparison.
