Explain a System

Read and notice.

A system has parts that interact. In a plant, roots take in water, stems support the plant and transport materials, and leaves use light in making sugars. An explanation connects the parts and identifies what evidence would help check an idea.

Try it.

  1. Draw a familiar plant and label roots, stem, and leaves.
  2. Add arrows to show water moving from roots through the stem.
  3. Use your drawing to explain how two parts work together.

Your response

Explain how two plant parts work together. Name one question your drawing does not answer.
